Queen Mary 2 (QM 2)

The longest, largest, sleekest ocean liner - and the fastest since Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE 2) - has been built at the Alstom Chantiers de L’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. Queen Mary 2 (QM 2), the first true ocean liner built in a generation, came into service in January of 2004. The launch of this unique Cunard liner with its deeply raked prow and luxurious interiors has produced a tremendous excitement around the globe. Measured against the height of the Empire State Building, the 1,130-foot super-liner would is only 117 feet shorter. In spite of her grand scale, Queen Mary 2 (QM 2) carries a relatively small complement of approximately 2,800 guests in an atmosphere echoing the glamour of the transatlantic Queens of the 1930s. With a guest-to-crew ratio of about two to one, she will surround her guests with signature Cunard White Star Service.
